Why I Started This …
Why start a blog (of all things) in 2023?
I wanted a spot online where I could jot down my ideas about fashion, self-care, health, food, nature, and lifestyle. While I love Instagram and TikTok, a lot of what is wise to post on these apps is governed by trends, algorithms, and what your followers expect. It’s very tail-wags-the-dog if you want any eyeballs on your posts.
A blog gives me a chance to post longer format POV’s and more photos.
But You’re So OLD …
Which is precisely why I think more voices are needed in this space. Many of the most successful fashion bloggers are over 50 (aka Boomers) for a reason.

The population of North America is slanting older, but our representation in media is still token. Marketers are obsessed with reaching Millennials and Gen Z with products and ads that speak directly to them. However, the preponderance of women with disposable incomes are decidedly Boomers and beyond.
So What’s Your Background?
I started life in the San Francisco Bay Area, and migrated to the East Coast nearly two decades ago. As a result I have a good understanding of coastal culture and what makes these very distinct populations tick.
I grew up on a small horse farm in California, as a result I’ve had a lifelong love of animals. I couldn’t imagine life without the furry and feathered babies that keep me company every day.
I majored in English in college and have a true book hoarding problem. I also love to write, which is another reason to start a blog - right?
And Another Thing …
I needed a way to hold myself accountable.
Anyone who’s been around the block a few times knows that as you age the tendency to let things slip can be very easy. With every wrinkle and grey hair you become increasingly invisible, and with that comes a sense of defeat and surrender.
Your beautiful clothes find themselves shoved to the back of the closet behind sloppy sweats and T shirts. No one notices the extra few pounds you’ve put on which leads to health issues and more.
Challenging myself to post online several times a week has really changed that attitude. Once I accepted that I have lines on my face and a full head of silver hair it really helped my overall mood.
